Plays for drama teachers

I'm a drama teacher by trade...

Though my creative path has since led me to writing plays for adults, my professional roots are firmly planted in the drama classroom. As a former freelance drama teacher, I haven't forgotten the unique challenges of the role. I know firsthand the pressure of sourcing a quality script—one that isn't just a narrative vehicle, but a dynamic tool for learning; a play that offers not only substantial lines and memorable moments to showcase each student's talent, but also the depth to keep an audience of proud (and discerning) parents thoroughly engaged.

It is with this front-line experience in mind that I have crafted every script on this page. They are designed specifically to be flexible and forgiving for the busy secondary school teacher. Whether you need to accommodate a fluctuating cast size, tailor roles for varying ability levels, or simply find a text that is both artistically satisfying and logistically manageable, these plays have been created with you in mind.

The Moosetrap (2023)

A locked, abandoned theatre holds an 80-year-old secret. After breaking in on a dare, a group of friends find themselves centre stage in a living nightmare, transported back to the 1940s opening night of 'Murder At Barrington Manor.' But who really killed the star, Gerald Moose, and what is the tragic truth behind the legendary 'White Lady' ghost? It’s a race against time in this spooky adventure where the clues are real, the danger is palpable, and the style is pure vintage Cluedo.

Suitable for a large cast including an ensemble. (Full length)

Fur And Loathing (2024)

The lives of two humans, Josh and Claire, intertwine with their pets—Buster, an exuberant puppy, and Chocolate, a sassy, elderly cat with a storied past. When Josh impulsively brings Buster into their small flat, Claire, a self-proclaimed cat person, is less than thrilled. Meanwhile Chocolate, who has lived eight lives is unimpressed by the new furry intruder. The play explores themes of love, family, and the bonds we form with both other humans and the animals who love them.
